350 tbi wont start, could ya help me find the cause?

Ok, 2 sundays ago i went grocery shopping, the 350 tbi started up just like normal, came out of the store and it wouldnt start... at first i thought the ignition was maybe stuck and just wouldnt turn cause it seemed like it was getting locked up but i tryed to turn it many times and even sprayed some wd40 on the key cause i thought maybe something was getting stuck.. well its in my garage now and i can turn the key all the way to when its supposed to start but nothing happens. It makes a little click noise on the starter when i do this and all the guages go to max also, (temp gauge, emerg break, rpm, battery, etc...) the battery also works perfectly fine and the starter is pretty new so im dumbfounded... its a 1990 camaro w/ an aftermarket 350 in it. All the wiring is from the origional L03 305. Anybody have any ideas what may be the problem? I'd appreciate any feedback on how to troubleshoot it cause im getting tired of driving my 96 4runner around
Thanks
Nick

What kind of voltage do you get at the starter when you try to crank it?

Never think it cant be that new or "reconditioned" starter, i get duff stuff all the time at work, it can come out of the box dead as a dodo.
First place to check would be the starter\connections at starter and engine earth strap.

everything tops out when i try and turn it and all the alert lights come on. Is there any chance it might be the alternator?

I would say to check the voltage on the batt. I would also check your connections (at the battery and at the starter) Also I had bought a NEW starter from napa, It had worked fine for about 4 months, then it just started to click when I would park it after driving it. If I let the car cool down for a wile it would start. I was told that the heat from my exhaust and bad tranny had caused it to die. just something to think about.

The battery seems to be fine, cept i noticed today when i was messing w/ it that the voltage only goes up to 8 and the temp to max when trying to start it, is this normal or is my battery maybe not producing enough juice? Every other utility seems to work fine in the car also...

Battery voltage should be closer to 10 when cranking. Have you tried starting the car with a jumper box or battery charger connected?
