I cracked my intake manifold, HELP!!!

Well I have a Performer EPS manifold and I was tightening down my fitting for the heater hose next to the thermostat housing and having a good time when I noticed it wasnt getting tight, so I look down and see a crack going down the threaded opening about 3/4". Tools went flying, yelled out a couple nice words then started thinking. . . How in the hell am I going to fix this??? J B Weld, Sauter??? What do yall suggest??

Probably need to have someone weld it for you.

JB weld should work. Or possibly cooling system 'stop leak'

Exactly how big is the crack? If it's big enough to prevent a fitting from fully seating when you screw it in, makes me think it's probably going to take a weld job. Not sure how JB weld would hold up.

Is there a warranty at all you can dink around with?

JB weld rules. JB weld the crack AND the fitting too... it'll never think about leaking ever again.

what on earth is Sauter? (oh please, oh please don't say what I think you're going to say, I swear i'll just off a bridge if the school system is this bad...)

epoxy would work too, it shouldn't be a big deal. If you're real keen, you could helicoil it.

He probably means "solder". I don't ever recall seeing the word in print in any of my years in public education in this country at least, so I don't know why you feel the need to comment on the state of the school system in his location. I don't know why you need to off a bridge either, what did the bridge ever do to you that you need to contract a hit on it?

Helicoils repair damaged threads, not split castings. They're not available in pipe threads anyway. I've never had much luck getting JB Weld to stick all that well to aluminum, and I especially wouldn't trust it to work in an application that's going to be stressed further by a tapered fitting and repeated heating and cooling cycles.

How about a picture? If it's fixable, and you'll pay shipping,I'll fix it for free.We can surely set up some secure way so you know you'll get it back.(Although I'm pretty sure that there's not been a string of people scamming cracked intakes on the net)

Post a picture, and check on shipping to 65617,if it's fixable, and shipping ain't stupid expensive,I'll weld it up for ya.
