well if you plan to pass legaly then nothing. All the parts play their own role.

I don't want to screw up my computer. Will taking off that stuff mess with it? I don't want to be driving around with the "service engine soon" light on all of the time.

Yes. If you rip it all off and leave it off. You are going to set off some kind of sensor. Your car will run fine, but that light will be on. Do you need to pass emissions?

No. I live in Montana where there are no emission laws, YET.
I would like to clean up the engine compartment a bit and get rid of power robbing equipment if possible. If there is no way to do that without screwing up my computer then I guess I will have a bunch of fun reinstalling this crap.

You're going to throw codes, but places such as www.tpiparts.net can do custom burning to remove stuff like that (my chip is actually there right now). The only power robbing emissions is really the AIR system. Even without it you'll pass emissions without a problem, but I believe thats what was throwing codes in my car. It certainly cleans up the engine bay, removes weight, one less belt to replace, and new headers without the AIR tubes are cheaper. The early evap canister you should leave, can keep your gas from evaporating away from what I've read. The EGR stuff might as well leave, doesn't harm anything really.

Well if you don't have to pass emissions then that is a differnet story. You can get away with no cats and I am pretty 90% sure no air pump or fitting on your maniflods.

Thats good info, but my car is a TBI unit. Will the TPI place be able to make the correct adjustments?
When I am done with my engine I will have to have a custom burned chip. Will that make any difference?
