What code are you getting?

Also, there's a sensor that used to be in the air filter. What'd you do with that?

like enkil said there is a wire going to the back of the stock aircleaner, look in the tech artical about open element installation, and they say that if you dont connect the wire then you will get a ses light. i think the dealer if full of it, they want you to give them 65$ an hour to reinstall your old one, of corse something will be wrong with that, and you will have to buy a new one, and it will probably take them a couple hour to install it, you should try to get a output code reader or whatever they are called, if your engine is running to "hard" then it would show up. i dont know how air into your motor can be a bad thing

Well, too much air and not enough fuel will cause detonation, but I highly doubt that's going on here. heh

All's you need to get the code is a paperclip. (There's a technical article on how to do this.)

Anyways, on the old air filter case, there shoudl be an electrical wire running to a sensor that's stuck in the air filter, and a vacuum hose that runs to the thermac. (That round cap sticking out of the arm of the air filter.) The vacuum hose needs to be capped. As for the sensor, to get the old air filter off you had to unplug the wire from the sensor. Wiggle the sensor out of the air filter. (This might take a little force.) Then, you can either put it in the open element air filter (punch a hole in the metal) or, just plug it back onto the wire and let it dangle somewhere.

i never hooked the sensor up to my open air filter, and i never got the ses light - i think your problem is elsewhere - i just capped the port with a plug, and all is good

i've already changed it.... the sensor, ok put it in the air filter..(doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me but okay...) but as for the vacuum hose, are we taking bout the one going to the exhaust manifold? cuz the manifolds are coming off.... i have a hose coming from somewhere in the back left of the engine and it lets out smoke...or i dunno what but it dirties up my air filter so it obviously needs to be taken off or plugged...WHAT DO I DO WITH IT?
