You can always do a temp fix, take off the 2 heater pipes at the bulkhead\firewall and join them together with a bit of copper tube the correct diameter. [or any metal tube].
You can still use the car, just no heater, but it means your not off the road.

Also could be the hoses going into the core leaking.
Another member here did a core change and couldnt find out where a/f was still coming from and it was the hoses. Dont ask me how but i guess it can drip through the firewall and get on the floor.

yep i was that other member. it easy the only really hard part is geting the old hoses of the heater core. just cut them off with a razor blade or knife. don.t replace the heater core without putting new hoses on it

It will trust me, the diameter is slightly different, but some worm drive clips will sqeeze it tight enough, i know coz ive had to do it.

Yea that is the heater core, and it is a PITA. I just got done doing mine. the biggest thing is the top screw up there is a real PITA. not much room for any decent sized tool to do anything and it is all one handed. I finally got fed up and onbolted my dash from the firewall, undid the top of the console (all this took like 15 minutes) and then pulled the dash up and out and gave me great access to the heater core and tons of room. If I would have done it that way to begin with rathe than try to play around with the top screw, I would have had the thing out and in , in about an hour and a half to 2 hours. hooked up and running.

If you get a haynes book from any local hardware store it will tell you step-by-step with pics how to change it out. This way is actually the easiest. I was intimidated when I first read it but it is actually not that bad. Trying to figure it out yourself will just lead you to doing it the same way the book tells you to. B.T.W it is most likely you heater core.

i done more than couple heater cores in third gens...unbolt the dashpad, unbolt main dash frame from pillar etc.. put something between pillar and dash to hold it back a bit like a 2x4. unscrew cover from heater case...top screw is very painstaking i used a mini 7mm wrench.
ive only done them in firebirds n t/a's, in the camaros u might need to move the console/radio pod back or take it off
