350 vs 383 worth $1100?

I'm planning on stroking my 350 to a 383, but the cheapest kits that could just barely handle the power i'm going to be putting out are like 1100 w/o machiene work. is this cost effective. How much more will i be producing from the stroke. btw, it'll also be bored out .30. I appreciate all responces. thanks

If you are using new parts 383 and 350 are essentially the same price. Maybe $100 difference at most.

actually, i have the 350, and i want to make it a 383. the stroker kit is the cost. i'm looking at if the improvement is worth it.

I know this isn't really what you're asking, but if you have a strong running 350 you may be better off keeping it. Personally I'd get a 350 block, have the machine work done, then assemble it rather than disassembling a strong running 350 and basically scrapping those working 350 parts.

I think its worth it but it also depends on how you intend to use the car. If its a daily driver and having maximum performance isn't real important to you, stay with the 350. And just because its a 350 doesn't mean you can't make it run strong..theres some great running 350's out there. If you want more performance potential and you intend to race the car then the stroker kit is worth the money especially if you go with high quality forged crank and rods that could handle any future upgrades...power adders ect.

I get asked this question alot where I work at and I can tell you now, YES building a 383 is worth the $$$$ plain and simple there are ALOT of them runnin around on pump gas that are daily drivers. I can tell you now if you build a 350 and you want a 383 you will not be happy until you build that 383. And like stated in earlier post get it balanced. As for performance remember there is NO replacement for displacement. Good luck.

it depends. are you going to put a bigger cam in it? or bigger heads for feed the extra cubic inches. I have seen a bunch of builds that guys build a 383, and put 350 stuff on it, and wonder why it doesn't make good power. if you aren't going to put a bigger cam in it, or cylinder heads that are going to take advantage of the extra cubic inches. why do it? the 350 would run better with better matched parts.

just my .02

i'm in the same boat with my 406. i can keep what i have now, which i know runs good, and not have to worry about it. but if i start trying to make more power, i'm going to have to upgrade a bunch of stuff. i think i'm going to stay where i'm at. if it ain't broke, don't fix it. i'm just afraid i'm gonna break it.
