What oil filter to use??

I got my free car with less then 10,000 miles on the motor. I was told that it is a 350. I am not sure what oil filter to use. I dont know what year the motor is out of, he told me he bought a rebuilt 350 from the store, not completly sure. I would like to use Mobil 1 syntec. But not sure of what size or part number, any suggestions??

As long as it is a '68-up (I think that's the year) 350, it doesn't really matter. All SBCs use the same oil filter mount, so the length is the only remaining factor. If you use one of the 1-quart models, typically listed for trucks, you'll be fine. You can compare the different #'s listed for various applications (there will only be a couple), pick the one that is about 6-7" long. The typical 3rd gen f-body listing is the shorter one.

You can cross reference the following filters to any brand you like:

Long Style: Fram PH13
Short Style: Fram PH30

I always use the long style (more filter media, less flow restriction) if space permits.

Use the long truck filter.

AC PF25/PF454 short or PF35/PF1218 long. PF1218 is what I use.

I used the Mobile One truck filter (long style) on mine and it works great! I did not notice any medium sized filters.
