pulling engine again

I have been having many problems with my new engine I just put into my gta. I am getting preasure in the cooling system but there is no steam coming from the exhaust. I pulled the plugs and none of them are wet. I also have water in the oil. I was wondering if a blown head gasket could cause an engine to display the problems above and also: run rough, backfire? I found the only way I could get the engine to idle properly is to set base timing at 4* after top dead center. If I set the timing at 6* before tdc all the car does is spudder and it sounds like every cylinder is misfireing.

If you have any idea what my problem is please help me.

I had sleves put into the block in no4,6 cylinders I don't think they are leaking but you never know. The timing is the only place I could get the cam to lope at and it finally sounds like all the cylinders are firing correctly. What do you mean by the timing is way off? I don't understand why it won't idle correctly correctly at 6* btdc and it will at 4* atdc. If you could explain this to me it would make things a hole lot easyer for me I don't understand why it is doning the things it is.

This is a new one on me?????

The cooling system is supposed to be pressurized. Heat in a sealed environment creates pressure.

Water in oil = bad. If you've got no steam coming out of the exhaust, probably not a head gasket... but could be other gaskets not sealing right, or worst case senario a cracked block? It's probably better that you're pulling the engine again, with water in the oil it's possible you've washed out the bearings...

Your timing is probably way off... did you install a new balancer? Your old balancer's ring could have slipped, giving you the wrong readings.

Good luck.
