Bolt sizes for intake?

I went to get stainless steel bolts and I'm having a problem. The bolt I brought to the hardware store (after removing it from my engine) is metric size 1.5. I thought the heads were 3/8" threads. Also, when I get new bolts, whatever size they are, do I put anything on the threads to seal them and keep them from coming loose? Thanks!

1.5 is the pitch not size, the bolts should be 3/8-16, you'd want to put some sort of non hardening sealer on them, like liquid teflon pipe sealer

So I want 3/8" 16 which is in the SAE section? The only nut that fit over the bolt I pulled from my intake was from the metric bin which I thought was weird, I couldn't fit a 3/8" nut over it. I guess it was just the sealant on the threads. Also, I have black RTV, could I use that on the threads to lock them in rather than going out and buying some? Thanks for the info!
