Vortec 350,what`s the best crank?

Hey guys,my boss want to sell me a 99 vortec 350 engine from a 2500 silverado,it is a very low mileage motor as far as I can tell(there is still cross patterns in the cylinder walls)he only wants 200 for it, but the problem it has is a cracked crank,I have completely looked over this engine and everything else appears to be in very good shape, what would you guys recommend for a good strong crank.I want to be able to spray this engine and get some good rev capabilities from it,any good suggestions guys?

Well....I mean....it's pretty damn hard to break a crank, lots of guys go way far on stockers.... I'd love to know what in the hell he did to break it in the first place!

he didn`t break it,it was pulled from one of our customers trucks because it was knocking.the crank is popped in two places.Luckily all the mains are in great shape and the bearings have almost no evidence of any major wear.so hopefully everything will be fine .
I`ll try to get pics this weekend so I can show everyone.

best crank? Callies For what you want though, eagle or scat would get you by just fine.

Make sure you go over the block with a fine tooth comb. If it broke a crank, look for signs of heat on the bearing saddles and also go over the rods/pistons. Something could have been out of balance and the harmonics probably ate the crank.

should I get the whole rotating assembly or just the crank and have everything balanced together?what would be the best option,I don`t want to be a turd but I just want to do this right the first time.

busted here, not the same crank but just to give you an idea.
As far as the balancing being a problem that was my first thought.maybe the flexplate and H.B were out of wack.

If you're on budget I would get an eagle rotating assembly and build an N/A motor. You can get them balanced too. If you've got some extra cash go for the kit with the 4340 crank and rods. Also comes with JE pistons. Sent you a PM
