92 305 stalling
I am having some issues. I was driving on the freeway doing about 80 when the car dogs out and dies. I pulled over to the side of the freeway, tried to start the car and it would stall. I have replaced fuel filter, injectors, plugs, wires cap, and rotor. Fuel pump is working fine. Any ideas would be great.(Tried to search for the answer, but came up with nothing.

I dunno man maybe its the computer or something in the ignition side maybe the coil (but it would not even start if it was the coil)...

We might be having a similar problem. Can you keep your car running in neutral by opening the throttle? If so does it make any power? And by "any" I really do mean ANY. My car idles in neutral and starts fine but is completley powerless.

Possibly the sending unit? You say that the car would stall. Do you mean it tried to start but couldn't, or it would run and then stall?

Car would start up, get to about 1000 rpm then stall. Replaced MAP sensor, iac, both injectors, fuel filter and I am running out of money.

Does not stay started in neutral. Forgot to add that sometimes when I step on the gas pedal, a four foot flame shoots out of the the TBI unit.

Axle/Gears: bunch of 10 bolts how scary is that
Well you need to esablish if its a electrical problem or fuel problem. Then proceed on trouble shooting.

yep it's the 2 basics of trouble shooting a non running or barely running engine, either not getting for or spark or at least not adequate fuel or spark (this is a generalization so to speak but, you get the idea).

woah 4 ft flame realy? That's a biggin (should put some zoomys on that **** hehe).
Well pull your spark plugs and stickem to something metalto see if they generate a spark if not you'll know it's ignition related. (btw don't use the engine itself on a efi setup could possibly fry stuff i would suspest).
If that doesn't do anything for you then, buy a fuel pressure gauge and check your pressure at the regulater.

Sorry it was in the wrong forum. Thanks for moving. It has good spark and the injectors are putting out plenty of fuel. Fuel pump is coming on. I am still mystified.

re:stalling
the back fire sounds like the timing gear may have stripped.does the engine spin over really fast ,or alot faster than usual?IF you havent pulled the distributor, have someone help line up the timing mark on balancer with timing scale on front cover, then lift dist cap.rotor should be pointing to #1or#6 wire location.if not theres your prob.hope this helps jimmy

Backfire through the TBI usually means the spark is getting to the fuel when the intake valve is open. Sounds like a timing problem. Have you checked the inside of your dist. cap? and rotor? Other problems may be,
timing chain, dist. gear, module, cam, BAD vacuum leak.
I've had a problem like your's and it was the dist. gear. Allthough it never restarted again till I replaced the dist.
The only time it might try to restart is when the timing chain slips a tooth and causes a backfire like you mentioned.
