Please help w/my no start problem
Things I have checked
fuel pressue good at 40 psi
fuel pump is priming I can hear it come on
bought a spark tester and tried a couple of wires 1 got a little spark the other no spark, also can anyone explain why my fan turns on now when I turn the key to the on position?? this started with the no start problem.
Visually checked all the under dash fuses all appear to be fine and not blown.

Well you said you have weak spark at some plugs and none at others. You have already narrowed the search down. It's an ignition problem. Check the coil output with your spark tester, if it is healthy then you may just need a tune up. If it has been a while since you have done a full tune up, then now's your chance. Check your cap and rotor, they may be worn out, if your wires are old an nasty replace them, and if your plugs are fouled up and over gapped get new ones. If the coil output is bad, then you likely just need a new coil. It wouldn't hurt to have the ignition module tested, parts stores can do that, and check the resistance on your pick-up coil. I don't know the specs, but maybe someone does.

The wires are brand new
The spark plugs are brand new
The cap, rotor, new
I am running an hei big cap set up 1985 tpi
not really up to par on ignition stuff is the ignition module under the cap? Anyone have a picture of one for reference

Attached is a picutre of the ignition module. It is the breaker for the primary ignition circuit, just like points in an old school distributor. It is under the cap at the back of the distributor. The pick-up coil is the triggering device that tells the module when to remove the ground for the primary ignition. If that makes any sense.

Well that one pictured may not be yours since you have an '85, but it is similar. But if you are asking if it is there at all in a coil-in-cap style distributor, then yes it is.

When you unplugged the IM, there was a 2 wire connector to it, that goes to the PickUp coil,it "wraps" around the dizzy shaft, but look at the connection and the PU coil to see if you see any green crud/oxidation on it and the plug connection, if so replace it...you'll have to pull the dizzy, knock the rollpin out of the gear and slide the shaft out.
Between the two connections going to the PU coil, should OHM out to 800 ohms, plus/minus 50 and be stable when you wiggle the wires.
On another note, the "test" at the AP stores is not always accurate on the IM's.
