engine break in
just curious, i get tons of mixed results about engine break in. how many miles do i need to go easy on it before i track it? with those track only cars out their, im sure they dont really wait 500-3000 miles to race the engines, how do they do it ?

Track-only engines aren't built with the same rings, bearings and clearances as street engines, and might not even be expected to go 500-3000 miles in their lifetimes.

That and they are generally broken in as much as they need to be on the dyno. As far as your engine goes, if it has chromolly rings, as most now do, you need to run a couple hundred easy miles for sure to let the rings seat. If you have a roller cam, you dont have to break that in, otherwise you need to do the ole 2K rpms for however long it is process.

Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power
i broke in the engine in my new truck the EXACT same way i drive it now. got the truck with 7 miles and drove it normally (for me) which is driving it kinda hard to others. the engine runs strong with 22k miles on it and im fairly confident that it runs better than others. doesnt use a drop of oil either.

Was that a new truck from the dealer though or a new engine in a truck you own?

I agree 100% with the Mototune link. This is how I've broken in ALL the engines I've build, and I've never had a problem doing it that way.
