starter terminal connection nut just spins

The nut that holds the power lines to the starter just spins freely but does not want to come off. How should I get the sucker off.

Put a flat-tip screwdriver behind it and pry it outwards to put pressure on whatever threads are left while you're turning the nut counter-clockwise.

No room to get a screw driver behind it. I tried and tried.
Looks like I have two options. Cut the lines and redo them or take a dremel cut off wheel to the nut. Or is there some magical tool to remove spinning nuts?

Cut it off then. Or, drop the starter down where you can get behind the nut.

Most likely the nut is FUBAR, so you might as well cut it off.

Take the solenoid cap off (the insulator part, 2 screws) and hold it from behind.
