my dillema, please give your advice thanks!
MY CARS:
my cars
alright, now that you know everything i have, i will tell you what im NOT confused on. i'm sure that i want my every day driver to have t-tops, so that cancells the other 2 cars out for an every day driver, even though the red 89' formula that im currently driving (well not really b/c i got in a small accident with it) has over 255k miles on it, the frame is still straight, and i've done a lot of work to it, and i KNOW everything about the car. basically, i want more power, but i dont want to do something stupid. here are my two ideas:
1) fix all the body on my red 89' formula with all the good body parts from the 88' black formula. once thats done, take the suspension from the white 89' formula, and put it on my red formula. after that, build up the motor, put an accel super ram on it, with my voodoo lunati cam that i have brand new, unused from christmas, get a nice set of aftermarket heads, and put the rear in from the white formula. after that, get rid of the black and the white formulas, and just have my red formula that is completely built up for an every day driver.
2) fix all the body on my red 89' formula with all the 88' formula's body panels, and just do maintenence on the red 89' as far as suspension goes. for the motor, ill just throw in the vette heads that i got for free. the white car however, ill leave the suspension and the rear in it, and just build another motor up with the free motor i got, put the lunati camshaft in that, get a nice set of heads, and just throw a carb on it. then get a tranny from somewhere, maybe like a TH350 or something.
sorry this was so long, but im REALLY confused. plz let me know what you guys think. also feel free to ask if you need more info. thanks!!!!

Car: 1989 Camaro
Engine: 350 but it's torn down right now.
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: I'm working on it,lol.
Advertised Duration IN/EX: 280/290
Duration @.050 IN/EX: 230/240
Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .489"/.520"
Lobe Sep Angle / Intake Ctr Line: 112/108
Valve Lash IN/EX: Hyd/Hyd
RPM Range: 2500-6200
These are the true specs on the Lunati Vodoo cam that you have. As you can see, this isn't exactly a cam for a daily driver. For a weekend warrior, this would be a nice cam. The cam could be made to work with E.F.I. with some serious computer mods, but the carb might be a little choppy. To use it, you're going to need a 2500 stall converter and 4.10 gears. With a TH350, the RPM's would be pretty high on the highway. The TH700R4 would be a better trans for it. You will also need to beef up the bottom end quite a bit, since RPM's are more likely to kill the motor than the power it will make. My advice is to sell what you can for what you can get. Use the body parts you need off the 88 to fix your current ride, then sell whatever's left over. Buy new suspension parts to replace what you have to. It'll be safer and you won't have to replace them again for a while. Use all the money you get from the parts you sell to buy a cam that's better suited to your needs. If you make enough, you might actually be able to get yourself a good set of Dart or Edelbrock heads. Unless emissions is a concern, buy an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap and top it with a 650-750 cfm Holley Avenger carb for streetability. The LT4 cam would serve you well with a set of 1.6 roller rockers from either Crane or Competition Cams. For longevity and good wear without having to adjust valve lash for at least 100,000 miles, get the hydraulic roller cam. The set up I just described should get decent mileage, and if you run the compresion into the 10:1 plus arena, you can expect this combo to deliver somewhere between 390-440 hp. Not bad for a car you can drive wherever you want. Just remember that the bottom end is going to need at the very least, Hypereutectic pistons, forged rods and a cast steel crank from someone like Scat. These bottom end pieces should keep you more than safe up to 500 hp, which is more than the output you can hope for with the combo I described for the top end. Hope that helps.

i agree, if you only have one car, and its a thirdgen, you better have a backup.
thats what i did, i thought i would be driving my iroc all the time. but no.. my mod mind got the best of me and now look at my sig..
so i picked up a second car to scoot around (4th gen z28) in and when i want to have real fun i go hop in my iroc..

yah, i think thats what i'm gonna end up doing..... just keep my car as a nice daily driver, but build up the white bird as a weekend beast.

yes sir i do!
you can make all kinds of them, drag, street, track, pefect restorations, but you cant have every thing in one car... to me you can't.
