ok..I took the oil pan off today cause I have to change it I think and I have to change the time gears thats that in the motor. but since I got it off I would like to see if any can tell whats in it just from looking a the pictures....I dont know what Im looking for.....I can tell the motor has been machined for the extra clearance though...

here's some pictures...Im pretty sure that you really cant tell what is what just from looking at the pictures but I figured I would give it a shot...

looks like the pan will fit to me. i think the only pans that don't fit are the truck style pans. the motor looks like it's a 4 bolt main with nice rod bolts, but no idea if it's a 383 or 350, measure the stroke with a ruler to find out for sure

Rotate the crank around a few times and try to look for a casting number somewhere on it.

Looks a little like a stock 400 crank to me... cast... I see the "flat cut" on the top of the counterweights, for 5.565" rods.... is it a 511 casting?

That might be what it has now, but if it was a stock 400 crank it was made for 5.565" rods.

It's hard to tell from that pic, but there are a couple of spots that look to me like they've been touched a little.

Yes, you'll need the clamshell brackets from a thirdgen V8.
