Alernator Specifications

My father and I are looking for a rebuilt alternator and found a few at a local yard. But, I'm at college, about an hour and a half away from my father, and he needs to know the specs. on my current alternator because the guy at the yard said there are different alternators for different camaros and we'll need to match it up as closely as possible. So, I was wondering if all alternators were the same for a 1987 Camaro RS 305 and if anyone knew the specifications necessary to pick up a new one.

1987 is the only year that all alternators are the same 5.0 carb, or tpi. It is a one year only alternator. It should be 105amp. I work at NAPA and I just looked it up.

its not that complicated though

its either a large housing or a small housing one

and you can swap whatever pulley you need, v belt or serpentine

its simple

good luck
