Do I need to change lifters?

I'm building a mild 305 and am using an LT1 cam with 1.6 pro magnum rockers. The specs are like .477/.489. Do I need to change the lifters or no? My stock valve springs good? These 081 heads we're on a 350 before this and are ported/bowl work.

Put new springs on it. You're just ASKING for trouble, leaving the stock garbage on there.

The lifters will be fine though.

Ahh yeah I was thinking that. Do you have any suggestions for new springs?

That's not a real radical cam or anything, even with the higher ratio rockers, so springs shouldn't be too hard to nail down.

Any of the major cam mfrs entry-level springs (Comp, Lunati, Crane, Isky, Crower; not GM, not K-Motion) would do well. Comp 981 for example. Those will fit in the stock spring pockets, as will the basic 1.25" OD products from the other mfrs. Get the matching retainers and keepers, and an assortment of shims.

Check the installed height. You'll want to aim for the "spec" height of around 1.70".
