GM performance parts distributor?

Has anyone ever put a GM performance parts distributor # NAL 93440806 into their LG4 engines? Will it cooperate with a 1405 edelbrock carb?

It won't cooperate with the computer. It is vacuum advance. Is your LG4 stock?

I would save your money. The Q-jet you have on there is better than the edelbrock. Just change the intake if you want. But the stock intake is also pretty good. If you want to spend some money and help out the LG4 put header and a complete new exhaust on it. Then upgrade the aircleaner with a dual snorkle (ebay) or an open element. You will notice "real" difference for your money. If you want to get your hands even more dirty, replace the cam. LG4 cam is pathetic. But the carb and intake are definitely not the LG4s weak links. Exhaust, air cleaner and cam, in that order.

I'm told that the q-jet is a good carb, but to be honest with you, my q-jet is 20 years old, its never been rebuilt and i just want to try something new. A guy i work with is making a 1923 roadster with a 283 and he swears that the edelbrock is a great carb, so i want to give it a chance. I still dont know what to do about the distributor though. Whats the best brands? whats the best distributor?

I would go with the GM Performance one.

The only computer problem you're going to have is a constantly glowing SES light and an automatic transmission torque converter that won't lock, eventually burning out the 3-4 clutch pack in the transmission.

I'd have to echo the q-jet recommendations. "Trying something new" that someone "swears" about is a receipe for disappointment. Not that it won't "work", it just won't be any better and will probably be more trouble and in the end won't work as well.

But, hey, it's your car and your money (I assume).
