Massive hesitating,backfire...please help

Hey guys, i have an 89' Iroc 350 TPI.
Problem is the weeken i was doing so driving / racing and my car was acting horrible. Sometimes, when i would floor it it was go-cut off-go-cut off really fast. Almost like i was florring it then letting off the gas and flooring it again. Also there was a mustang next to me so i was reving up, so i put it in neautral and reved to like 5k-5.5k and when it hit like 5k the engine light would flash but shut right off when i went down. Also, when i went to take off it would hessitate really bad then sounded like it backfired out of my intake. I've had the car for 2 years now and just got it out of storage where it was for like 4 months, and i just had a new 700r4 installed. Ive never changed anything ignition or fuel related includding sparkplugs or wires, so im hoping it may just be a simple tune up needed but it will be a day or so untill i can really look at it. should i take it to auto zone and have them see what code poped up also? anything would help guys thanks!
ALSO-if i accelerate slow and normally there is not problems at all, you wouldnt be able to tell there was a problem, seems to only act up under lots of acceleration.

Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: I'm working on it,lol.
Check the connection at the E.C.M. to make sure it's snug. Sometimes they work themselves loose. If it continues, start checking your plugs, wires and so forth. Don't forget those vacuum hoses. Post back to let me know if that fixes the problem, or that it's still acting up.

I would check fuel pressure. Its pretty easy and can reveal a lot of problems.

Assuming you have a stock fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pressure should be between 34-47 P.S.I.
