so i put a new steering column in my car and i didnt really secure the wireing to it and now i payin for it all the wires that are comin out under the steering shaft in the fire wall all got coiled around the shaft and ripped out. wierd thing is only thing that doesnt work is my speedo and i can see y taht doesnt work..lol it got really chewed up..but wut do all those wires do? only thing is my check engine light will come on once and awhile? has this happend to n e one else?...my car is a 87 iroc wiith 350 tpi

On an '87, you should have about six wires to the turn signal/hazard lamp switch, five wires to the wiper/washer switch, four wires to the cruise control stick, two key buzzer contact wires, one wire to the horn sounder, and a partridge in a pear tree.
