tall valve cover clearance issues

tall valve cover clearance issues

well i just got my new tall valve covers today and the drivers side cover hits the charging wire coming off the back of the alt. Is there anyway to remedy this situation? (i need tall valve covers)

does it hit the bolt (post) coming out of the back of the alternator, or the wire itself or...?

I have tall valve covers, and it's close but not touching.

You could cut the post shorter, and put a rubber insulator there. I don't think it'd be easy to space your alternator out further, as you'd have to space out all your pulleys.

that pic is of a v-belt setup i have a serp setup . the sid e of the cover is hitting the stud so yeah i think im just going to try to shorten the stud on the back o fthe alternator.

If you have a local electrical rebuilder, they can change it to a side-feed power connector.

i decided to file down the charging stud , use a thinner nut and then eithr some silicone or some rubber hose i have lying around to insulate the nut/charging stud.

What type of tall covers are you using? I have tall ball milled aluminum ones and had no problems. I did have problems when attempting to use the fabricated aluminum center bolts because they have no external gasket rail, it just goes straight up.
