Rotor question

Hey guys, how would you know which position to place the rotor if you did not mark its original position before removing it? Is there a way to coordinate the rotor position with the firing sequence by knowing which cylinder is due to fire at any given time?

Thanks alot.

The rotor only goes on one way.

If the distributor has been removed, you can turn the engine over to TDC #1 firing, and then which ever terminal the rotor is pointing to is the #1 terminal.
