Want to use LT1 heads. Questions.

Hey maybe some one knows more than I do. Sorta Goes along with a Previous post when I was in the market for a new Cam.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...hlight=IROCZ86

I got the XE 262 cam and love it. I still have the Crappy heads though.

I have the option of getting a friends LT1 STOCK heads from his 95 Z28.

I know there reverse flow and I know you need the Carburated LT1 Intake from SUMMIT or JEGS. Other than that do I need anything else or is there a reason i wouldnt want to do this. I would take the CC'S from 75 to 55. Thats gotta be good.

Let me know what you guys think, I,m going to buy the Intake and other suff Monday when I,m at Summitt in Akron OHIO.

You don't need an LT1 intake. Any SBC intake will work, you just need to drill new bolt holes and use some angles washers. Putting LT1 heads on a gen I block is not a matter of just bolting them on. Some fabrication and modifications are required.

No they're not like that. They won't fit a Gen 1 SBC, period.

OK, when you say Gen I block what years are you talking?? Mine is a 80-86 out of a truck. I got the heads and from what I can tell from putting one up to the block there is no problem with this Coolent hole. I dont see how I,m going to pour coolent into the lifter valley if I dont plug it.

Never say never. Someone with money and a wild hair up their posterior could do it.
