OK, I got all the stuff to remove my smog pump, got started, and everything was going great. Then, I got the to Torx screws to remove the smog pump. I got the top one loose....and stripped the head of the bottom one. Soooo. Is there anyway I can get the screw out? Thanks!

 

I did that to my upper smog pump torx bolt last year..... I cut a notch in the head of it with an air powered whizzer in a spot that I could put a (chisel type tool..... forgot the name of it) and hit it with a hammer to loosen it. I'm not sure if you can get to the lower one to do this, but take a look and see, if my instructions make any sense.

goin to try gettin up therewith a dremmel, tyr to get in between the bolt, but not much room, and there are lines in the way, what a fricken PITA!

 

I've not had a chance. Went on vacation last week, and been working all this week. I might have a chance this coming weekend.

 

yeah well I'm still at a standstill, tried using a dremmel and wheel, barely did anything, been hammerin it with a chissel as well, cant beleive something that should have taken less than and hour has wound up taken 2 days because of 1 stripped bolt. Its hard to get in there, because of ac lines, but I might try drillin it next, before I put everything back on!

 

vise grips perhaps?? **** load of PB blaster? try it out

 

update and I must say, out of all the work I've done on my cars throughout the years this is the most embarrising I WAS ON THE WRONG TORX BOLTS The instructions here really suck for this, I never removed the pulley first and saw the torx, underneath there are 2 torx holding a bracket which holds the smog, and ac compressor, those are the ones I thought were
the ones. I figured it out, removed the pulley then the bolts, then rerouted, but unfortuenatley while trying to grind that bolt head of I grazed an ac line and now I have no ac, and need a new line! havent taken it for a drive yet, but I hope it was worth it
