Decreasing valve spring size

I have a set of AFR 180cc heads that were ordered with .600lift valve springs. Unfortunately, the springs are massive, 1.540OD, requiring the use of a aluminum rocker with a large retainer relief cut into it to clear. With the spring seat cut for a large OD valve spring, would it be possible to go to a smaller size valve spring so I can run the more durable Comp Promag rocker arms?

yes, you may want to use a spring locator under the spring. The locator should fit in that big pocket, and have a locating feature to hold the smaller diameter spring in place.
