So i need ideas on how to quiet it down without changing my exhast ..... to pass the test it has to be like 94 decibles or lower and mine was 101 .... oh and its flowmaster 80 series cat back if that helps...

change your exhaust.
How else do you think you can quiet it down without changing your exhaust?
strap a silencer onto the tailpipe, do the test, unbolt and return the silencer? just gotta find something that'll do that...
101DB ?!?!? holy cow! Do you have any sense of hearing left??

101 db????
what the f**k?? Dude, sure you have that right???
130 db= threshhold of physical pain from sound waves
I'd love to know how you got that going so loud...Should come driving around my street once in a while so mine doesn't seem as loud dude.
100 db = No more than 15 min. unprotected exposure recommended.
110 db = Regular exposure of more than 1 min. risks permanent hearing loss130 db= threshhold of physical pain from sound waves

I had a buddy put steel wool in his tail pipe and it passed after failing previously. Just a thought, i dont know if i would try it but it worked for him.

I'd just try another inspection station that SOUNDS way to picky to me.
WTF do these regulations come from anyway. The loudness of the car shouldn't have a damn thing to do with the safety inspection. F these people.

Ahhh, I see. You live in Delaware, that's why sound is a big deal. I was stationed in Delaware with the Air Force for 4 1/2 years. My GTA was too loud for them too. I just brought it down to a local muffler shop (private owned) and he put baffles in my exhaust for about $30. Right after he put them in, I brought it to the inspection lane, passed, then brought it back to the muffler shop to have them taken out. Not a good idea to drive around with something like that restricting your exhaust. Their a bunch of pains in the a$$ down there in Delaware IMO.

I heard somewhere on a decent motor it's 130+. My long tubes and open y-pipe is pretty ****ing loud at WOT. It's impossible to hear anything other than the car. It completely overpowers every other sound and it takes away every other sense except for acceleration. Whether windows are up or down makes no difference as it's the only thing you'll hear. My ears ring after a good romp up and down the highway.
And it's awesome.

ringing is bad, means youre hurting your ears of course,
i did this to myself on the riding mower yesterday for about an hour and a half straight, an old 8 horse briggs rider with just a piece of straight steel water pipe for exhaust
hmm
glad theres no inspections here anymore
sounds like DE is not where to live,
good luck
