Do you know how to pull a trouble code? Check the codes and post it here. Don't buy any new parts 'till you know what the codes are.

Heres how you do it. Look under your dashpad..near the pedals on the drivers side. You will see a female type plug inlet with 12 terminals inside of it. It is called the ALDL terminal. This is the ALDL in the person's hand:

Now, take note of the two connectors in the upper right corner on the top row. These are terminals A and B. What you need to do is...make sure the car is off. Take a paper clip and bend it into a "U" shape. Insert one end of the clip into Terminal A and one end into Terminal B. You have now jumped the ALDL. Now, keeping that there, turn your ignition on...DO NOT START THE CAR...just get it to that point where you turn the key and you get to the last click before starting the car...you know so that you can access your accessories but the car is not on. Now, take note of the "Check engine" light. It will blink a certain series of times...stop...then blink a second series...and then restart over again.

So for example, if it blinks 1 time...stops...blinks 2 times, then you have a code 12...see? You will ALWAYS get a 12 when you jump the ALDL, it is normal...it is just telling you that the ALDL is jumped.

Your code 12 will flash 3 times...after that, if there is another code (or two..three..four, lol) then it will happen AFTER the code 12 flashes 3 times...and THAT code will flash 3 times as well.

SO, if after the code 12 flashes, you get 4 flashes, a pause, then 6 flashes, then you have a code 46, which means you tripped the VATS (vehicle anti theft system)....but wait, dont stop watching until your code 12 comes up again. You could have more than one code, and they will appear in succession.

So each code is assigned to a different problem. Once you find out what your codes are, post them here, or search. It seems like a long winded process, but it is not, I was just being very clear here.

Good luck to you sir.
