I just wanted to get all of your opinions before I went out and removed the other head...

looks pretty normal.
What are the plans?
Make sure to clean up the block deck well. I like either scotchbrite on an angle grinder, or a wire brush on a drill. Not sure if you can re-scuff up the cylinder walls with the pistons still in or not...

Don't put vortecs on your 305, your compression will be too low.
ah, I see in your sig, the xe262 - good choice for the 305. Machine shop doing the springs for ya? good, good...
Got a dremel or die grinder? Might want to sand smooth the combustion chamber...
Looks good, just make sure to clean everything religiously. Like eat off it clean. That cloth in your lifter valley is a good idea.

nope, too low. I'd have to see that article.
You have 58cc heads, and a stock .015" thk gasket.
Once you put on the .039" gasket, your CR drops a bit. Put on 64 cc heads and it drops again. That motor might have 9:1 CR, with those changes your down in the '8s. That's lame.

good job cleaning.
You should be able to close your eyes, and run your pinky, or fingernail, along the deck surface, and not feel anything. No nicks, no bits of junk, etc.
What did you use to clean it?
