FLOODED OUT 93 Z28 in Houston!

Car 93 Z28 flooded up to bottom of doors on the road and stalled out. I pushed it out of the water - it will now not start. The engine turns over, and I do have some smoke coming out of passenger side exhaust pipe when turnng it over. Only sounded like it tried to start a couple times all day, but only for a second. Any ideas?

You should not have tried to restart it. You should have pulled all the plugs and cranked it over just in case.

pull the plugs and blow them dry (a good time for new plugs) , pull the distributor cap and blow it dry, pull the air cleaner and replace it, make sure there is no water in the air intake tube, disconnect the coil and crank it over several times, replace everything, give it a shot of starting fluid, and try again!

'93 LT1s have the non-vented Optisparks, correct? I second the suggestion of pulling the distributor and making sure it is clean and dry inside if the water was that deep. Was the car trying to drive through that much water, or just sitting?

I was driving when the water rose higher pretty quick - stalled out the engine while in the water... pushed it out of the water...

Well, if you were driving and it was that high, I'd say your Optispark got wet inside. Heck, the advise you to be extremely careful on those cars even when doing a water pump swap, not to let the coolant dribble onto the distributor below. Take it apart and make sure it is dry and clean in there.

would be a good time to do an oil change as well.

if the cap & rotor have been on it for some time, i would recommend to go a head & replace them with new A/C Delco.
those Optispark distributors are very sensitive to water, if it still works it may go out on you later on.
