327 LT1
I have a 327 block and I wanted to put LT1 heads and an LT1 intake on the 327 if that's possible. Can I use LT1 parts on non-LT1 blocks?

The LT1 heads will need extensive modification to fit correctly, but the intake will sit nicely. You will need to block off some coolant passages, and get the heads decked.

That sticky has all the info you would need, but one has to ask themself if the work of making LT1 heads fit is worth it or not. They flow alright but there are much better heads out there. If you did do this, I would HIGHLY suggest porting out those heads to open them up more, and make it worth it, otherwise, you are wasting your time imo.
Also, check this out. LT1 Intake - LT1intake.com
This website will show you everything you need to convert to an LT1 intake on a 3rd gen. Theres also another link floating around somewhere that has a comprehensive installation guide on the LT1 intake into an L98 engine. Google this.

LT1.com used to be a lot free-er with it's info when John Millican owned it.
There were detailed instructions on how to DIY if you so choose, or you could send the parts in to be modded.
Now the mods are kept a secret and the links have been lost.
An LT1 intake fits on top of LT1 heads with no mods to the existing bolt patters, obviously.
If you do the bulk of the work yourself you can end up with an affordable head/ intake system that will do a 327 justice in the high rpm department, especially if it's complimented with a solid lifter cam and other matching components. And it tucks unnoticeably under the stock hood too.
I've got a 327 LT1 project of my own that's partially completed.
Others have modded the LT1 heads/intake to fit the SBC1 block. ME Leigh is one member who comes to mind on that. Since the LT1.com site doesn't show as much info as it used to, you'll have to ask around to find out what you need to know. There are quite a few posts here on that though.
It will help a lot $$ wise if you can weld/machine aluminum.
The LT1 top end on the SBC1 block is sort of a poor man's miniram when you DIY the mods on your own.

why not just put the 327 crank in the lt1 block?

I believe what he means is that he has a Gen 1 block that he wants to put an LT1 top end on. Besides, even if he did have an LT1 block, what would be the purpose of putting in a crank that will yield a lower displacement? That makes no sense.

the main reason i ask is because i have a 327 block and a buddy of mine has the heads and intake from an LT1 that he would give me for the price of shipping them three states. from readin these posts you all left, it seems as if it is possible, just requires a little work to collant passages and getting them decked.
does the fact that an LT1 is reverse flow affect anything goin onto the 327?

that is the reason they don't just bolt on.
you should really read the sticky about converting them for gen 1 use.
