oil on firewall after intake gasket install
I just finished the intake gasket replacement on my 89 350 GTA. My biggest concern is that after a short drive I found oil splattered on the firewall. It's around the distributor area from about the master cylinder to the coil up to the top of the firewall. I didn't see anything while it was idling.
I'm obviously hoping it's not the rear intake seal since the job was tough for me.
The minor problem is the car seems kinda flat on acceleration (won't chirp the tires off the line anymore or from the 1-2 shift) I also installed a TPIS regulator but I did set it to 47 psi at idle with the line disconnected. I also installed new accel 21 psi injectors- 3 of the factory ones went bad.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

how long did you wait to fire the motor after you sealed the intake? shoulda been at least a couple hours.. also, what did you seal the front and rear of the manifold with? did you use silicone? the junk rubber gaskets are a waste of money..

I used a felpro gasket set, it didn't have a rubber gasket for the front and rear, it said to use the black rtv it came with.
I waited days before starting it due to other problems I ran into.
I guess the china wall is the rear seal of the intake?

Could be leaking at the Distributor gasket to. Make sure timing is set correctly and that the Distributor hold down is on the shoulder of the distributor and that it is tight...

thanks, I did check that last night. I pulled the distributor and checked the gasket there and made sure the hold down bracket was good and tight, but the problem is still there.

Also, make sure your OPSU (oil pressure sending unit) is snug. If you don't have one there, I hope you have a pipe plug in the hole.
