oil blowing out of valve cover breather valve, help me

i got a 1986 camaro 305ci 4bbl carb. 130,000miles.. love this car but this is making me want to drive it off a cliff. everytime i drive it the entire inside of the car/under the hood/everyone 70 feet in back of me get covered in a blanket of smoke. when idle you can see smoke coming from the valve cover breather, but no oil. as soon as i get going smoke will fill up the cabin. after a short drive you can see oil on the valve covers and headers. i shoved a piece of wood in where the breather cap goes and for about 40 seconds i had no smoke, then i guess the pressure built up and the piece of wood blew threw the hood. the pcv vavle is good but what can i do to stop this smoke? is there too much pressure in the crank case?

about 3 months ago cylinder #1 had no compression so i took the cylinder heads off and put some new valves in, fixed. everything looked pretty good.

Park it This Winter & Yank the Motor

Sounds like you got a bad case of blow-by. This is when either your cylinder walls are worn, or your piston rings are worn, broken or seized and mass quantities of combustion gasses enter your crankcase. Because of the volume of blow-by you are getting, your PCV system can't handle it all & gasses are coming out wherever an opening is.
Oil spraying on your headers is burning and smoking up your car & the people behind you. You must also be blowing smoke out your tail pipe.
Yes, it's time to pull the motor and freshen it up - this motor's crying for a rebuild!

I second that. Classic case of a motor needing a nice rebuild.

Pretty sure you called me earlier today. If so, I will see ya on sunday.

Pretty sure I won't be able to do much for ya. But I will take a look.
