I used Sta-bil when doing my L98 swap, I believe our tanks are 16-19 gallons, Id have to check to
be positive..

I basically had 3/4 tank and, and used bout
1/2 the bottle. Stal-bil just keeps the gas from varnishing over and becoming "sticky" which is
also the #1 killer of electric fuel pumps.

Im probally wrong about the size of the tank,
but use your best judgement and Im sure the
car will be fine.

Make sure after you add it, you run the car
for 10-15mins to treat the entire system..
Come spring, the car will be ready to hit the pavement.

I've been putting in enough for a 12 gallon tank for years and never had a problem. Though I'm sure our tanks are bigger than 12.

StaBil is not necessary if you are just storing it for the winter. I've stored vehicles from November to March or April for the last 20 years and never had any fuel related issues.

well it was only a few bucks, so it was worth the added peace of mind. i figure since the tank is 15.5 gallons and u need 2.5oz for each gallon i need a total of 6.2oz. im so happy i move into my storage unit tomorrow!

Shelf life for gas is only about 30-60 days and it starts to break down and if you have never experienced what gas turns into when it does, it's not a pretty site let alone the cost for fixing the things it will mess up. The gas may very well start the car in the spring but, it will probably run kind of ruff till you get some fresh gas into it. Stabil is safe and cheap insurance for all your gasoline powered equipment. I put it into all my gas cans when I fill them up as well. I've been a Stabil user for more than 10 years after I had a tank of gas go bad.

I think the 2 1/2 ounces per gallon is backwards. The fuel stablizer we sell at work says 1 ounce for every 2 1/2 gallons. For 15 gallons that would make it 6 ounces.

I also use stabil in the winter for storage of my Iroc. I use a "small "bottle of it,(not sure on the ounces), dump it into an empty tank, fill it, run it for about 10-15 miles, then I store it from Oct.-April. I haven't had any troubles with it.

If putting Stabil in your tank makes you feel more secure, go for it, for the sake of a couple of bucks, but please don't spread typical internet hype that gas "breaks down" after a month ot two. This is simply not true. Yes I have seen what fuel systems look like if stale gas has been sitting in them for 2 or 3 years. But, saying gasoline starts to go bad in 30 to 60 days is a completely inaccurate statement.

Yea, Like I said.. I used stabil during a L98
swap that took longer than normal, If I hadnt
had used it ..I could guaranteed Id be dropping
my tank for a new pump.. or worse

Its always good to be on the safe side,
but 30-60 days for gas to deteriorate is
alittle exaggerated.. Id say anything over
90 days Id use Stabil without hesitation.
