Changing Engine Mounts

Has anyone ever changed the motor mounts WITHOUT removing the lower A-arms? If so, then you know how dang near impossible that is. Well, after a day of busted knuckles and cuss words, I finally did it. ...just wanted to brag.

It's easy, Why did you put your bolts in upside down?

I removed the bolt out of the the control arm bushing that is closest to the radiator and presto

after you are done you just jack the control arm back into place and reinstall the bolt

It might be easy if you have a rhesus monkey as a helper! I put them in upside down cuz there was no way to get the nut started that deep inside the subframe. However, I was able to hold the bolt head in an extra long box end wrench with some black tape. Then I could push it up thru the holes and start the nuts.

I did mine the same way - much easier than fighting that nut. Won't matter either way. Some claim that the nut might come loose, the bolt would fall out, and you'd be screwed - but if the nut comes loose any, you should feel the vibrations LONG before anything falls out anywhere.

I've done it before without taking off the A-Arms... I also did it without removing the engine (unbolted it obviously). It is a major pain, but once you figure out how to get a wrench in the right spot, its not so bad... I used a magnet to hold the nut (attached to the flat side of the nut, then I used a wrench once it was started)..
