falls on its face!
My car has been sitting for about two months, last time it was on the road was for inspection when it ran just fine. This weekend I put a new stereo system in it and took it out afterwards, and to my surprise it started to run like crap!! Its fine if I accelerate very slowly, but when ever i try to get on the gas or even start off quickly it falls on its face almost stalls out. I've never had this problem, any ideas what to check?
edit:
I've been thinking about it, It runs fine at Idle, so before I go through the agrevation of checking all the plugs and wires, could it be a bad sensor? if it is sitting idling, and I go to rev it up, it will just cut out.... I realize that it could be just about anything, but I am hoping that someone has had a similar problem and can help me debug...

If it's not bad fuel, it could easily be a sensor. Pop off the air cleaner while it's running and see how much fuel the injectors are dishing out. I've had a teperature sensor go bad and have similar results on a TBI motor that you're seeing. It was dumping so much fuel that I had to unplug one of the two injectors in order to limp home. If that's not it, a bad TPS sensor would also not tell the computer that you're stepping on the gas, and might cause it to stumble.
The only thing is that I've not really known sensors to just go bad.

the SES light is not on, I will check out the gas situation. I guess I could try to find a code reader and see if I'm getting any trouble codes.....
could be something as simple as a clogged fuel filter too. filter might be letting enough fuel through to let it idle ok, but when you step on the gas it runs out of fuel. whens the last time you replaced it?

DO you think its possible you could have blown a fuse when you were installing the new radio.I did this on my first car(an 83 Toyota tercel???)Put in the radio and amp and took it for a ride did about the same thing you`re describeing.Checked the fuses after talking with my dad and I think it was the crank fuse or something. It`s been 16 years or so so I dont really remember which one but it was a fuse problem.

I haven't replaced the fuel filter in a while, but how often should you have to change that? I think it was somewhere in the last couple of years, but this is not my primary vehicle.
I definetly could have blown a fuse, I will check that out today, thanks for the idea!

well I checked all the fuses, everything is fine in that regaurd. The strange thing is that it runs fine when it is under 220 F. When I first experienced this problem i had let the car idle for a long period of time, since I hadn't run it in a while. I am going to drive the car around tonight after work to see if I can recreate the problem....

ya sounds kinda like bad gas...just take it to the gas station and fill up the tank...then do some burnouts to thuroughly mix the good and bad gas.
ok you dont have to do the turnouts to mix the gas...but if you dont do it that way then your not cool

well, last night I put fresh gas in and changed the oil, with some high milage oil and lucas oil stabilizer, and everything seems to be on the up and up. As long as nothing pops up in the next couple of days, I guess we will have to chalk it up to bad gas. Thanks for the help guys!
i have the same problem..and for the life of my i cant figure out whats causing it. some days it wants to work, some days its tempermental, some days it falls flat on its face. everything seems to be working fine except i get a service engine soon light for the mapp sensor and the differential pressure sensor. its an 87 305 with a 4-barrel carb
