I still have plans to build one. I have everything but the time to put it all together.

Nice picture. There's no flex plate on the engine. How are you supposed to start it. They also mention that a garden hose isn't supplied. I'm assuming the cooling system is just a garden hose fed into the water pump. It would be a better setup if there was an actual rad or some sort of cooling stand pipe.

I like how the gauge panel has the operator standing with the open headers aimed right at his legs. Flame ON!
Here's mine after a run-in with headers: cost $38.00 (gauges sold seperately)
p.s. it is nice to see what one is supposed to look like though...

Nice and simple. I also don't like the idea of the exhaust pointing back at the control panel area. There's nothing saying you can't bolt the manifolds on the other way.

I've fired an engine up sitting on jack stands and no exhaust manifolds Looks cool seeing flames coming out the exhaust ports.

My build design would be simple and only built for SBC/BBC. Use an old bellhousing for the rear mount. I was thinking of using some old solid motor mounts on the other end but attaching some brackets to the front mount holes as in the above picture would work too.

I made up a hose and "T" fittings, along with blanking plates where the waterpump mounts, to put water in the drain plugs of the block, that way when you're done the block drains and you can move the engine without sloshing water or leaving water in the block to freeze . Water outlet is the heater hose connection next to the thermostat. Simple and effective.
edit: p.s. it does have caster wheels under all 4 corners.

Cool! And from Cost-co !

I saw another guy on here made up one of his own, looked pretty slick too.

I was going to make one of these, probably bolt to the motor mount area. Mine probably wouldn't look as nice though

Supervisor, why bother bolting on a 3" piece of pipe after the long tube headers?

Actually 2-1/2" reducers.
Ever see a 350 horsepower leafblower?

Personally having a decent welder and being retired.....Id build my own version with ALOT larger, wider,longer/wider, base,(on casters) and a sliding adjustable/swapable, engine mount, radiator and seperate electic water pump and fan, better tach, a/f ratio gauge, engine temp, oil pressure exhaust temp gauges, starter/bell housing adapter,ETC. and Im reasonably sure I could do it for a similar total cost

damn, I see ANOTHER PROJECT in my future, to go with the flow bench and REAR WHEEL DYNO, that Im already planning on..................ever notice you never get to the point your sitting in a complete garage???
its like being a sultan and having 300 wifes....theres ALWAYS something you know you can get but youll still think of MORE,BETTER ETC.
this hobby could get out of control if youll let it!

heres where I went temporarily, off track on my BBC corvette project, I only did it because I knew ID get back every cent if I sell the place later and IVE always wanted a decent place to work on my cars/engines vs a cramped 2 car garage

well finally got the stucco

the lift

the bathroom installed in my new garage so Im advancing slowly

Holley molley. That is probably every man's dream garage. I'm just plain jealous. Now all you need is a little kitchen, a bed and tv. Hahaha. By the way regarding the engine stand I just saw a Dodge Hemi on one just like it today. I

do you want to adopt a son? I take up very little space, i'm sure I could set up a cot there in the corner...
Holy shnike, you must be swimming in cash to build a place like that for your hobby... I mean, I could go for the 300 wives, but a garage like that? I don't know, it'd be a tough choice

Serious note though - why would you put an exhaust temp gauge on your motor stand? And an O2 sensor? Don't they both basically do the same thing?

Are you seriously considering building your own flow bench and dyno? Or did you mean buy one? I was thinking about building a flow bench, but I wasn't sure how i'd get a vacuum with enough juice to make 28" of water pressure drop. Wouldn't an engine dyno be more helpful? If it's possible to BUILD one of those, i'd be all over it in a heartbeat.

It looks like there's nothing keeping you from mounting the engine the other way around, either.

I use one of these $30 wheeled cradles for transporting engines. It could probably be turned into a break-in stand with minimal effort.
