Quick, Possibly Stupid Question

Would upgrading from 1.5 to 1.6 rockers increase my rpm range (because of added lift) as well as increase horsepower, or just add some power, period?

in part it would depend where your RPM limiting factor is ,if it's valve lift then yes it'd increase it. if your limiting factor was intake volumn then no. depending on what you've done to the engine any increase would be slight and most likely unnoticable.

See, my issue is that I am working with a cam that has a 1600-5400 rpm operating range. I picked this cam for my tpi setup, but I ended up swapping to carb, as the tpi was giving me problems, and now I have the potential to go to 6500rpm. I was hoping that the increase in lift might nudge my rpm up to 6000, if I was lucky.

Just the cam I picked up wasnt compatible, so I took the easy route out and switched to carb. I wasn't too concerned about mileage, and I really just wanted the car running. I tried the tuning thing but it just wasnt working out.

Retarding the cam would be more effective at raising the RPM range than 1.6 rockers would.

600 RPMs is a lot to expect, though.
