measuring pushrod length
nothing comes up in search for some reason, maybe if you dont want to get into it you could direct me to a post or article, for some reason im just not grasping it i dont think , heres what i think is right
bolt new heads on motor with new cam ,everything at tdc on compression stroke, put one of the rockers on with adjustable pushrod checker installed......................heres where im a bit foggy, does it matter what cylinder? do i have to do both valves? from what ive read, you coat top of valve with marker, with a couple of rotations of motor, it should wear away marker from just off center away from pushrod to just off center towards pushrod , am i close? i dont understand the base circle terminology..............

Check out this link. http://www.circletrack.com/techartic...rain_geometry/
There a few theories and methods floating around. I personaly followed the above advice when I measured for my pushrods.

found another good article, see picture 2? says " with the lifter on the base circle of the cam" , what does this mean?http://www.circletrack.com/techartic...ushrod_length/

I don't believe compression or both valves being closed at that point matters. Just when the cam is at the very bottom of the lobe for the valve you're measuring.

Think EOIC. Exhaust opening, the intake is on base circle. Intake closing, the exhaust is just on the base circle.
And I thought you wanted to use a solid lifter for this test. Or modify a hydraulic lifter to be solid...?
