Those heads are not Vortec heads. "187" heads are Swirl port heads. Good for stock or near stock applications.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
187 is THE ULTIMATE GARBAGE; 305 swirl-port TBI heads.

If somebody is telling you those are Vortecs, they're trying to rip you off.

The ONLY Vortec casting #s are 906 and 062. All other numbers, are some other kind of head. There are no "early Vortecs", no "almost Vortecs", no "just like Vortecs", and so forth. Voretc is GM ad-copy lingo for "we moved the intake ports to a different place; they're ¼" closer to the valve cover now".

they do have 2 or 3 305 vortecs i have a set casting 520. we have debated it and they flow quite well for a stock 305 head... they dont have the same chamber shape but the ports are the same the runners are raised they have 58cc chambers. do a search 305 vortec and you will find the article with flow numbers...

yea, 305 vortecs, making them, ...."almost vortecs", or "barely vortecs".... 187's are what i'd call "Nowhere close to vortecs".
Run far from that guy trying to pass those heads off as vortecs.
