what 350 will work ??
i'm looking for a 350 to switch all my 305 tpi parts to (cam, tpi intake system).is there a certain year i have to look for ? does it need to be fuel injected ? or can i just go and pick up any old chevy 350 from the junk yard ? i tried doing a search on here but just couldnt find the answer i was looking for.

Yep, any old 350 will do. But like stated above, keep your eyes peeled for a 87+ roller block. That will leave the window open for some easier HP later on down the road.

His intake can be drilled to fit either one. Or he could but an aftermarket one and kill 2 birds with one stone. It really doesnt matter which year engine he gets.

If the new block was a roller block, you could use your cam in it, but it would be a better idea to upgrade it while you've got the chance.

87+ is what you want, if you find an 86 or older it will be flat tappet style.
Like ape was saying, you can put roller cams in older blocks, but it costs about 10x as much as replacing a roller setup in a roller block.

Yeah you definitely want to upgrade your cam while you're at it. Your stock 305 cam will be very anemic and underpowered in a 350 motor. Trust what the other guys are telling you too. The 87-up roller cam motors are a vast improvement over the older flat tappet motors!
That just reinforces the point even more. Any cam that runs decent in a 305 is usually not enough cam for a 350. At the very least, you ought to go with the Crane Compu-Cam #2032. The ZZ4 cam would be an even better choice than the Crane.
