I picked up Mr Gasket MRG-19 Dual Throttle Return Spring and Bracket Kit. This will sound stupid but i have no idea where the best place is to mount it. It says on the intake manifold. But the bolt hole on the bracket is not big enough for a bolt that would go into the intake manifold. I can modify it easily, but just wondering if anyone else has this setup or where did they mount their's?

 

If it's on the car you have the Edelbrock intake on, just use one of the coil bracket mounting holes. They're only used when you're running an old school points ignition w/external coil anyways, so they're shouldn't be anything stopping you from using one of them. I hooked up dual return springs to my Weiand X-Celerator/Holley 650 DP setup, and that's where I bolted the bracket to on mine. Should be a 5/16 thread size, so the bolt will go right through that hole in the bracket without having to make it bigger.

 

im running the edelbrock rpm air gap, ill look for the extra 5/16 thread size. is it in front?

 

On the back of the manifold right in front of the distributor, driver's side.

 

thanks guys, but i just mounted it on the thermostat. there needs to be tension on the throttle or it wont come back so it had to be in front of the intake and i couldnt find no place except for thermostat.

 

When I get a chance, I'll snap a pic of how I got mine rigged up. It provides plenty of tension to pull the throttle back, and it looks a lot cleaner. I used to have mine mounted to the t-stat housing bolt too, and I never liked how it looked.

 

Here's the pics of mine. Since the spring is hooked to the very bottom of the throttle arm, it pulls it all the way closed easily.
