Question on dual valve springs comp 986

I picked up a set of springs, and was about to put them on, when I noticed that my heads have a step after the valve stem seal. The inner spring, would end up on the step thats about 3/8ths of an inch higher then the seat, where the outer spring would sit. Only reason I thought this might work is because the inner spring is a 1/2" shorter then the outer when not on the heads.

Thats the incorrect way to install comp 986's right?

If this is confusing, and to help make a better thread for others to look at down the road, I will make a video tonight showing what I am talking about, and possibly take some screen shots for pictures.

Re: Question on dual valve springs comp 986

No there should not be a "step". The place on the head where the inners sit should be the same height as the rest.

Re: Question on dual valve springs comp 986

The only "step" for the inner spring is on the underside of the retainer. In the valve spring pocket on the head both coils should be even/flat with eachother.
