removng/installing injectors?

how does the injectors connect to the intake manifold. i know theres a clip on eahc injector for the fuel rail but as far as i can tell the injectors just sit in the intake holes and the o-rings is keeping it air tight.

but this cant be can it?

i want to replace my injectors and want to know how things are connecting before i take on this project.

Re: removng/installing injectors?

you pull the upper plenum off and unscrew the fuel rail, then you can pop the injectors out of the lower intake manifold, then slide the injector clips over on each injector at the fuel rail, then pop them out, installation is reverse. really not all that hard, i just did it in 40 minutes

Re: removng/installing injectors?

ok thanks. any tips to ensure they won't leak? if i hear/feel the pop then the o-ring is making a good tight seal between the injector and fuel rail/mainifold?

Re: removng/installing injectors?

If the o-rings are old just replace them. I've found that rubbing the o-rings with vaseline works much better for installation and removal then using the suggested light oil.

Re: removng/installing injectors?

new injectors should come with new o-rings anyway right?

and are there any o-rings in the fuel rail where both ends of the pipe are side by side in front of the mainfold where they are screw tapped into fuel hose lines....any o-rings in those connections?

Re: removng/installing injectors?

Yes, new injectors usually come with o-rings and yes, all the connections to and from and in-between the fuel rail components have o-rings too.

Re: removng/installing injectors?

to install/remove injectors is there a popping feeling/sound or how do you know its secure in the manifold and fuel rail?

i want to make sure since the clips dont fit on the ford injectors
