Re: cam question

what does the cam manufacter say? I would have to gues no. usually all other than stock cams will require a spring change itleast. why risk it? a more agressive cam on stock used valve springs sounds like trouble to me. It sucks when stuff breaks when you want to cruise around.

Re: cam question

Edelbrock cams are ancient technology using ramp rates that are older than dirt. You are much better off buying from a cam company such as Comp.

Re: cam question

The basic rule of thumb with stock heads is anything above .480 lift will require some modifications to the heads. You definitely want to upgrade to a better valve spring, and you also have to check your retainer to valve guide clearance. So at the minimum, you'll need to change springs, and possibly have the valve guides machined down a bit for proper clearance. If you go with the Crane 2032 cam, it'll work without having to machine the guides down, and give you a respectable power gain over the stock cam. Get new springs though. I'd never trust old, worn out stock springs with a new cam. Just common sense.
