I can't get her to turn over!!!!!

I have a 1992 Camaro and it has been sitting for about a year. I cannot get her to turn over. I have a new battery and the connections are tight on the starter and battery. The main ground cable is a little corroded so I might replace that but I cannot even get the selenoid to engage. The car was an automatic but it is now a manual. I did not convert it the prior owner did. I thought maybe it is the Clutch safety switch so I disconnected that but still nothing. It is not the VATS because the security light turns off. I turn the key and nothing happens. Any thoughts would be appreciated. The car no longer has an ECM because it is carburated now. Could that make a difference?

Mine acted like that. I had to run a bypass wire around the VATS system to get it to crank. Not sure if that's what is wrong with yours. I had mine in a chevy dealer for a week and they couldn't figure it out so I bypassed it myself now no more problems.

My car does the same thing. Wouldve stranded me if I didnt know how to hotwire it. I'm not sure if its the vats or the starter relay. It's not the starter. I just cut off some insulation on the purple wire in the harness going to the starter, and tap it to a wire touching the battery. It's actually nice because I can see everything going on as I'm starting it. Soon I'm going to buy a push button start panel and be done with it.

So you just keep the purple wire connected to the battery? Where is the starter relay and what color are the wires that go to it? I think it might be the relay but I dont know which one is the relay or what color the wires are that come from it. I have a GM Service manual on the way but sooner I can figure this out the better.

Did you disconnect the clutch switch or did you short it? Disconnecting it shouldn't do anything. Short the wire leads to each other if you suspect the switch.

Should there be two wires coming from the clutch switch?
