my iroc takes too long to start.....
every morning i struggle with this bastard. it cranks but wonnt start. then i pump it and it kinda but doesnt start. then i pump more and after more cranking it starts. takes about 20secs of starter cranking. wtf?!? afterwards its fine. ill turn it off and minutes later itll start. its a TPI engine.

Pumping the accelerator pedal doesn't do anything on a TPI engine.
What engine and year are we talking about here? A little information goes a long way.

maybe you should try cycling the key back and forth first. This sounds like a dead/dying fuel pump or pressure regulator.

There was no EFI offered from the factory in 1984, and no 350 offered before 1987. So, if it is TPI and a 350, somebody swapped it in there.
Which means, there is a high probability your problem is related to something that was not done properly in the swap. Like the timed relay that turns on the pump when the ignition is turned on. Or a proper fuel pump.

that or the car was retagged.
well the car used to sart fine before. sometimes even after weeks of not movin it it started with it even turning twice. later the block cracked thas when shiit started going downhill. i got the block replaced by an alley mechanic so i dont know if he didnt do something right. hop on the chicago forum down at the bottom of the messageboard and we can try to help you out. I do all my own work on these cars, built the one in my sig myself and my buddy owns a shop also. We're around tinley park, orland area.
