Price Estimate

I have a stock 1985 Z28 with the base 305 engine.

If I bring it to a Chevy dealership to do the following:

Complete tune up plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and check and adjust carb if needed
Replace all belts
Drain and refill radiator
Replace upper and lower radiator hoses
Drain and refill transmission and filter (automatic)
Replace engine oil and filter

How much do you think they would charge, will I be able to sit down afterwards? Should I just bring it to a local mechanic?

Everything on the car is original from 1985 and has 29k on it, the car has only been driven about 800 miles in the past 5 years, I thought it may be best to bring it to a dealer so they can ensure its back to factory specs.

I'm I waisting money with the dealer?

Thanks.

Yes. Do it yourself in about 3 hours and save yourself a ton of money.

Re: Price Estimate

well into a thousand dollars. Touching the Trans is over 150 alone. Plus labor and parts. I think the labor now days is around 90$ a hour. But they might be different. I know at my dealership they won't even touch the car because of the age of it, but if they did it would hurt your pocket.

Yeah its going to be a lot, especially if you take it to a dealeship to have all that done. All that stuff is pretty easy to do, do you have some friends that could help out? You would be able to knock all that out in a day.
