Oil Gauge Problem

So I installed a new oil sending unit a month ago. I drove the car with the gauge working last night. Woke up this morning and the gauge is all the way up. Any ideas?

Re: Oil Gauge Problem

Well I got in my car, let it run for a few minutes and the gauge went back to how it was supposed to be, with no work required. I'm sure it will act up again... I also didn't mention the thing has sat for three years until I rebuilt the top half of the motor as the last owner was going to let it just rot away. The coolant gauge is stuck all the way up so I ran an aftermarket gauge. One time, after I replaced the gauge keep in mind, the coolant temp which was always stuck way up actually went to zero but ever since then has been stuck back up. When I'm driving my fuel gauge bounces around from a quarter to three quarters. Stupid gauges.

Re: Oil Gauge Problem

Sounds like the wire is off of that one too (went to zero) but the connector is usually touching ground (reads all the way up)

Things like that just aren't hard to fix.

Re: Oil Gauge Problem

seems like the guages are notorious for crapping out these things. but I guess it could be any number of things like the gauge itself, the sending unit, or a fusible link. is there any way to narrow down the options? I've been driving my car for almost 2 years now without a temp gauge and oil pressure, i better fix them before it bites me in the ***

Re: Oil Gauge Problem

Screw around with the gauges, have them done somewhere, or run aftermarket.
