Fel Pro 1094 Head Gasket

I was thinking of using the 1094 gasket (.015" compressed) rather than the 1003 gasket (.041" compressed) to gain compression when AFR 195s are installed, but was wondering about the sealing quality of the 1094. AFR says the 1094 is compatible with the aluminum heads, and should produce 10.7:1 with a stock L98 shortblock, as compared to 9.9:1 with the 1003 gasket. Anyone have any input and / or experience? Thanx!

Are you going to have enough deck clearance?

Don't know yet, the engine has not been disassembled.

I ran the 1094. No problems on my engine.
You are going to have to check your deck height.

By deck height, do you mean the distance the piston is "in the hole"?
Thanks for the replies.

Beat me to it.
My stock block was 24 down. I believe stock is supposed to be 25. I could've mis-measured.

.025" is nominal. Actual blocks will vary.

Re: Fel Pro 1094 Head Gasket

The AFR tech was calculating compression based on .020" down,"standard" on a stock L98 shortblock. I don't know how accurate that is, each engine probably varies.
Thanks again.
